Hirsh Gardner is a local (Boston, MA) rock legend. He's the drummer from the band New England and he has an incredible career as a producer and singer / songwriter. The goal of this project was to revamp and modernize his image without loosing his 80's rock / AOR - influenced sound. This is the result of the creative process:
The font had to be elusive to those times when rock n' roll ruled the world. His music is AOR kind of songs that will remind you of Journey, Foreinger, REO Speed Wagon and the like.
This is the approved cover. The name of the album is "My Brain Needs a Holiday". The image says it all: it evokes that specific time period that Hirsh wanted to transmit with the name. The album was released in the United States, the UK, and Japan.

THE PROCESS
I've always loved comic books. It is such a prolific and absolutely creative cultural industry full of countless universes, characters and stories. I was thinking about our current situation in the world and I wanted to express an opinion through some creative outlet. So, I wrote (on my notes app in my phone) a short conversation between Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and an Alien. After that, I drew the sequence with pencil and ink.

I took individual pictures of each shot, treated them in Adobe Photoshop and colored them in Adobe Illustrator. "The New Frontier" by Darwyn Cooke, which is one of the best graphic novels ever created, was a huge inspiration for the simple color treatment. Here is the result. Enjoy!

An Immigrant Made This
Concept: Alison Olechowski
Art Direction: Juan Rocha
Execution: Shreya Dave, Phaedra Mangan Rocha, Alison Olechowski, Lindy Lagget, Melda Buyukotzturk, Shivani Patel
With one simple sticker, we were able to create awareness on the contributions of immigrants in many aspects of our society. We placed the stickers on things that were created, developed, invented, or had anything to do with immigrant minds, and spread the word through social media. We caught attention from The Boston Globe as they mentioned our initiative on Twitter, back when it was a legitimate platform.
